amsterdam.. the hague.. lots of visits and a presentation! last days of holland..

a lot has happened since the last time i wrote! so i am warning you.. this may be long..

saturday we spent the day in amsterdam.. went to a museum and saw some rembrandt.. took a boatride down the canal.. and saw anne frank's house.. it was so surreal to see where anne frank hid during the war.. it was just in the middle of a bunch of other houses along the canal that we took our boat ride on.. they've restored the house and made it partly into a museum.. it was so moving to see.. i almost cried numerous times.. what hit me most was when we first walked in to the part of the house they hid in.. we saw the bookcase that was attached to the door to hide it.. it was so surreal to be there! then we saw all the rooms in the house.. we saw where anne slept.. they still had the photos that she had put up on her wall.. you could see up to peters room in the attic through through a mirror that was strategically placed.. it was just so crazy to see! they had put phrases from her diary on the walls.. it just made it so real.. it made me very thankful for the freedom that i have.. i can't imagine living during the time.. i pray that nothing like this ever happens again..

sunday we went to church then went to the royal delft (they make hand painted china).. the dutch are famous for it! it was cool cause they showed how they paint it in black then heat it at a very high temperature, making it turn the pretty blue color..

monday was a VERY long day.. we started the day out by going to the flower auction.. apparently the largest in the world! then we went to a fishing village.. which was touristy but fun to see and walk around in.. then we went to see how the famous dutch cheese is made and got to have some samples! they were very very good.. then onto see some famous dutch windmills and how the wooden shoes are made.. then that night we went out to celebrate our friend greg's birthday!

today we had a big presentation! then a corporate visit to AHOLD which owns grocery stores in europe and the U.S..they own Giant stores.. you know the ones in carlisle by messiah? pretty interesting! i didn't realize that i was actually getting my groceries from a dutch run company..

tomorrow we are on to paris and have our last test thursday! then saturday we leave for london and the 29th (thursday) we fly home.. its surreal that its almost over!! i might not be able to post any more till i get home.. thanks following my blog :) its been fun!!

p.s. here's some photos from the netherlands.. i shall miss this place!!
